If you want to be near a city, Louisville or Lexington. If you are willing to live on the outer limits of Lexington (which, honestly, is where a lot of the newer housing is anyway), it's much much cheaper. The university is near downtown so everyone wants to be nearby. It's super beautiful too. I know more about Lexington and the surrounding cities than Louisville, but I go to Louisville sometimes. If you decide you are interested, I'm happy to tell you more about neighborhoods and prices and stuff like that.
