An old dog learned a new trick today....

Do you use Chrome? Do you use hit finder? Do you notice when you hit "accept" that there is a lag for the hit containing tab to open? Is this bugging you? It was bugging me, and I've found a solution that does not interfere with scripts, or make you run a new script.

You need to enable the fast tab/window close feature. This is not automatically configured into chrome. To do this, there is two parts.

Part one:
Enable experimental chrome features.
Experimental Canvas Features allow the Chrome to make use of opaque canvases to amplify the loading times and boost performance.
To enable experimental canvas features:

1. Go to “chrome://flags/#enable-experimental-canvas-features“.

Click on Enable and then Relaunch Now button

Now Part Two:

The fast tab/window close option increases the response time of the browser when a user tries to close tabs or windows. Enabling this feature runs a tab’s onUnload.js handler independently of the graphical interface and speeds up the closing process.

To enable fast tab/window close feature:

1. Type “chrome://flags/#enable-fast-unload” in the address bar
2. Click on Enable and then Relaunch Now button

Now, either re-start chrome, or wait until you open chrome again and the feature will be enabled.
