I am that old. When I was kid we called them "Mousies" because the top of the hoods were pointy like mouse ears and we would tie them around are waist. Lived in So Cal so we just wore them like an accessory.

I slept so well that during the course of my sleep I rolled over on my hand, which proceeded to also fall asleep. So I got like double the sleep my hand was super numb for a while I was actually scared.
