I truly understand you being uncomfortable but it's hard to say what they really want when it's not included in the instructions, It's not like someone is hacking the system, the buttons are fully functional, this is a debate that went on sometime ago in another forum and that's why I'm not so sure the writing portion wasn't there once upon a time, It was close to year ago tho when a batch would sit for over 2 days, maybe that's why IDK.
