Chrome or FF? It sounds like a memory problem, so when that happens again, ctrl+shift+esc to see what is hogging all the memory OS wide, and shift+esc to see what tabs are if you are using Chrome.

I swapped over to Chrome. I'll check that next time it starts to lag. Telling it to fuck off isn't working.
