I was the queen mother of cheap. No choice for many years. The kids say it was the best time of there lives because when I got a promotion, I may have been able to buy them more but no time with them.

You can't buy time! This reminded me that we went to the pet stores a lot too, just to play with bunnies or whatever.

I don't think there are any Costcos around here. Might try a pet store though, he loves looking at the fish in Walmart. And he has a sudden love with dogs now that he can say doggy.

You could check if there's any independent fish stores in the area. If might be a long shot, but if it's a good store and well set up, they're going to have all sorts of fish you'd never see at the big chains and might have planted aquariums and marine set-ups as well.

I know. My husband and I always knew what we were going to do when we had more time and money. I now have more time but my husband is gone so I am happy for the memories of the pet store, Costco and the drives around the lake.

I hope that's how he looks back on stuff. Our finances are vastly improved from when he was born but we still don't have a lot of money for extras. we've been saving for the aquarium for weeks and now we're gonna have to wait a while longer. Which isn't a huge deal, he doesn't understand/know we're going, but still.

lol he'd definitely be happy with that! I was just excited to see him react to the stuff at the aquarium. Soon enough, though.

No duck feeding places around here, but there are a few small parks. The best, most toddler-friendly one hasn't opened for the season yet, though.
