Do you just leave out the square root symbol?

No, the answers are actually written as exponents (at least, that I saw), and it says to use the ^ to indicate exponents, so "3b^1/4" was the way I wrote it. It does say to skip any symbols not available on your keyboard, but you can also C&P a square root symbol from somewhere.

I find the instructions a little hard to read on these - not a great format. Nice requester, though.
