The worst part is he will get out of paying taxes, as will all his big business friends who make millions a year pay zero, yes self employed get shafted cause we don't wanna make the man money.
I agree with the first part... our government is run by rich people for rich people. As for the rest... the taxes paid per worker aren't any different between employed and self-employed. The same amount is still paid, it's WHO pays it that changes. Companies who employ you have a tax burden to pay each year per worker... when you are self employed you are both the worker and the employer so you have to fulfill both burdens. That is one of the "costs" of business... among many many more. If you are going to spend any amount of time being self-employed you would greatly (read fiscally) benefit from learning how the system works and what you can do to mitigate your risks and costs.

Are you taking home office deductions?
home office deductions are statistically the most likely to get you audited. unless you strictly follow the rules to take the home office deduction (dedicated room in your house to only office use) i would recommend NOT doing so.

Morning Kiddos I need some shopping suggestions from people better at shopping than me

I'm looking for indestructible dog toys and a birthday present for a princess obsessed 5 year old who is the girliest girl ever born. The princess's present was the only priority for the day but the pup is chewing (another) hole through the drywall as I type this, so dog toys that last more than a day/week just got added to the list.

:princess::help: All this pink, princessy shit looks the same
toys by this brand have been great for us:
http://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcos...y:&pageView:&minPrice:&maxPrice:&pageSize:48&

we have the piggie https://www.vipproducts.com/retail/...ries/view/523/barnyard-jr-series/product:1673
and my german shepherd couldn't tear it up and now we have a small jack russell mix and her sharp puppy teeth can't rip through it either. they are super indestructible toys. and they don't squeak, which is a must for my fiance. he won't let me buy any dog toys that squeak.

Thanks for the reminder to fund the SE 401k for last year and reduce that taxable income.

Self employment taxes are so absurd.
They should take into account how little a self employed individual actually makes.
All these extra taxes on social security doesnt even make sense in our field.

I hate it even more because money is going to the government that is being run by the monster that is Trump.
Trump is lowering our taxes. yours will be $0 next year. this stuff is obama-era.

Fair enough, But if I'm paying taxes, i should also get fair representation which i have a feeling a lot of people feel they aren't getting. What good is paying taxes if it gets funneled to tax breaks for big companies.

Don't forget the separate outside entrance to your home office unless they did away with that one. I have an outside door but not a door between rooms so I don't attempt that one.

EXACTLY. Investing some time to learn the tax code so you can use this to your benefit is something any self employed person should do.
