I don't think there is anything wrong with it... if the time you've spent with your wife in your life is meaningful to you then even if something DOES happen, there's no need to regret the time or try to erase the past. As for whether it is a good idea or not... there aren't a whole lot of consequences to getting a tattoo unless you decide to get it on your face/hands.

Just for the compromise. I got my matching tattoo on the Las Vegas strip at Vince Neils now defunct shop. There was a midget in a diaper working the counter. regrets be damned. Ill always have the memory.
