for anyone who is great at saving money...

have any tips?

the obvious answer is "don't touch your money" of course

but it can be tough stuff

I save about 10% of my income due to automatic deductions. One straight from my paycheck into an account, the other two straight out of one account and into two others at the same time every month. These accounts are very difficult to access and I only do/will for the purpose they are set up for (e.g., I will touch my retirement some day, and I touched the long term savings to pay part of the kid's braces because I was saving for that).

I set up accounts specifically to save and made them a pain in the ass to access...like, I can't use an atm to get the money.

And Google sheets. I set a budget that I can "spend" on things above predictable bills (housing costs, student loan, internet, etc.) and track every expenditure (or just what I take out of the atm in cash) and try not to go over that amount each month.

Last month that got all screwed up with car repairs, but seeing JUST how much I was over really helped me not to do the, "Oh, this cup of Starbucks won't set me back much!" spending.
