I think it's still really good up until season 12 starts.

And the perfect way to cap it off was the season 11 finale which is in my top 5 episodes.
It really serves as bookend for the "good era" of the simpsons.

I was in high school when it came out and I was just soooooooo totally TOO cool for a cartoon show. And seriously, I wasn't going to videotape over my MTv Madonna Marathon VHS tapes.

And now ... do I really binge watch The Simpsons? I think I've picked up most of the cultural references at this point

Skip season 1?

I don't think Simpson's is about storyline continuity. Bart has been 10 years old for 30 years.

I guess not, but I figured there would be some character development/in-jokes that you have to watch the older stuff to get.

I don't know, I usually end up watching mostly the same stuff on netflix these days lol. I did watch Bates Motel b/c everyone was talking about it a few weeks ago though.

That show is the worst when it comes to reminding me how old I am. It blows my mind that there are people that are old enough to already be out of college, that are younger than that show. I remember watching the old Simpson clips on the Tracey Ullman show before they even got their own show.
