1st Infantry Division, 2nd Battalion 16th Infantry Regiment Bravo Company (Rangers) He was shipped to Vietnam after commando school in Polk, Lousiana but he said he was stationed first out side of Bien Hoa, Vietnam Outside the airforce base. (1967-1968)

Mine lied as well. He was in the navy, ship went down and he didn't even know how to swim!!! Who joins the navy and can't swim?? Yes he survived, another man kept him afloat for 3 days. My father is named after the man that saved my grandpa's life.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The STORIES!!!! That is the kind of story they make movies about. Wow [ Christopher is shaking his head in disbelief. ] I think, but am not sure because I've never researched any of this, that "kids" that joined were channeled into whichever service needed men the most at that time; thus, a guy in the Navy who could not swim. And on a certain level, that's kinda funny.
