Band of Brothers was excellent, and a good "take" on WWII (with emphasis on Airborne, of course).

I take it your Grandfather served in Europe?

Yes, though I'm not sure of specifics, sadly. My dad/his family isn't/wasn't big about talking about things that they deemed upsetting, which is understandable, even though it leaves a lot of questions unanswered. I do wish I knew more, but hopefully I will once it's my generations turn to hold onto mementos/keepsakes.

Mine lied as well. He was in the navy, ship went down and he didn't even know how to swim!!! Who joins the navy and can't swim?? Yes he survived, another man kept him afloat for 3 days. My father is named after the man that saved my grandpa's life.
