today is national beer day

also national health day

just read a quote on the world wide web that said "don't keep people in your life that don't want to be there". so simple yet so complexed for some people

for anyone who is drinking - i say toast to that quote. or if youre more of a tree person to light one up to that

amen. this has been Peachy's wisdom corner

My family history is madness and I love it all. My great grandparents aren't even blood. Great granddad died in coal mines, great grandma remarried when my grandmother was 2. Great grandmother dies 6 months later, so the man she married continued to raise my grandmother and he remarried when she was 4. The stories I hear are CRAZY. My grandmother is 95 and has spent the last half of her life doing genealogy. I'm so lucky to know so much about the history on my mother and on my fathers side (She researched both families).
Oh wow, you definitely have a ton of great stories, it seems! Have you considered writing a book filled with them? I mean, I'd read the crap out of it if it was an "official" published book. But even just having it for a family heirloom sort of thing would be pretty fantastic. It's really wonderful that your step-grandfather made sure that the kiddos were taken care of and stayed with them.

I wish I knew more about how to research for genealogy. I tried asking some family members, but ran into roadblocks so there's still so much I don't know until I learn how or have the money to use one of those services.

yes, but totally depends on the requester, pay rate, if they pay even if you don't find the info, instructions re: the prevous, how much info they want, how many actually are 'findable', if they reject based on crowd majority, etc. Some have been great, not most though.

My grandmother (I know it's a super formal name just what we always called her) has an entire room of information. She did it all by hand and started it long before the internet. Tons of research and I feel like I can never read enough of it. Pictures that are so so old and she goes back hundreds and hundreds of years. I could go on and on but not going to derail tonight like I normal do.

Oh is that a baby

scrmcasey @scrmcasey sorry for the repeat pictures! I took that of my 2 year old a bit ago and I've been laughing at it ever since.
She's so adorable! You could have used that photo all three days and I certainly wouldn't have gotten tired of seeing that expression :)
