yes,many schools (including colleges and universities) are closed today. It's Easter Break. Easter is not regarded as one of the Federal bank holidays so banks etc are not generally closed.
Today (Good Friday) and Monday (not a holiday at all) are not Federal Holidays. However, that being said ... there are lots of schools, businesses, etc that (if privately owned) my decided to close for those two days in observance of Easter.
I would call your financial institution and confirm with them personally.
