something is interfering. could be an extension or app I guess instead of a script. you shouldn't have to double check to make sure a hit submitted.

Been happening since the last few days for me. Have lost a few submit because I thought they did submit but did not and timer ran out

I want to say that this is due to something with the new worker site but I don't remember enough to be confident in this answer. So I'm gonna say this and wait for someone to correct me.

I would turn off all scripts and extensions. see if it stops happening. then turn them on 1 by 1 until you find what is causing the problem.

Afaik there's some sort of bug that a few have been experiencing. I had it happen a bunch about a month ago, now not so much. Something something accepting hits from the worker site but submitting them on the current site something something or other.
