oh, didn't think about that. I think seeing the TO is valuable, though
Not if it is making HS unusable. You also only need to do this when TO is being slow, just enable it again in a hour or something.

You could try partitioning your hard drive and throwing a Linux distro on there specifically for turking.

If anything messes up, you can always do a fresh install.
I use a macbook...don't even know what you're talking about :shy:

just switch from chrome, chrome eats up a ton of memory (the reason is each tab in chrome is a seprate process where as a seprate tab in firefox or other is just that another tab in the same instance.) you can also hit shift+esc to bring up chromes built in task manager and see what is gobbling up all your rams and cpu or if anything is running out of control

Also I'm curious to see how many people just hit shift+esc to see their task manager.

hah, I actually reverted to using chrome for HS because FF was aggravatingly slow with it. Doesn't help that I perpetually have too many tabs open. It worked up till now, though.

Ahhh, Apologies!

I only have experience with throwing Linux on old Windows computers. It's how I make them viable for turking and such.

I tried putting an OS on an old Mac, although I couldn't even figure out how to power it on past the Apple logo.

I use chrome to run my main turky window and HS and that is it all other windows I run in FF for that reason.

yes it does, it would behove you to close it down or hit reload every now and again.

Chrome master race. Firefox is worse. Also, HS should never eat up a ton of resources.

Seriously though, disable TO on HS for a bit to see if it helps. I have a few requests to turkopticon that taking 5+ seconds to get a response back today.

When you try running Chrome on an old netbook with only 2GB of Ram, it becomes REALLY evident how much CPU it uses.

Firefox is slow, true, but it's better at conserving resources.

Midori and Seamonkey are some wonderful lesser known browsers, although they lack extension support.

yep I've been doing that at least every couple hours or so, I was noticing a lot of slowness a while back and started doing it, runs much faster now.
