It is VERY Lovecraftian! Which is kind of ironic in that the authors of Night Vale have verbosely abhorred Lovecraft (mostly just as a person and not as an author I think)... his political and social views were somewhat appropriate for his time but in todays world he would have been considered a bigoted asshole.

Intolerance in general (even in favor of tolerance) has a habit of being a narrow-minded affair.

Eh, he probably would have been look at as a bigoted asshole back then as well. Either or. I can appreciate the style without liking the guy. I think that the stuff that most people consider "Lovecraftian" wasn't even created by him, but by August Derleth, or one of the other writers/collaborators.

Still a great show. Love the proverbs at the end of the episodes - "Look to the north. Keep looking. There’s nothing coming from the south."
