I have to quit cold turkey - anything else is just a long road back to smoking for me. Stopped for 2 years after a cold turkey quit. Plus I have no health insurance so meds are a no from me, dawg. Just gonna have to wait until my mental heath is better to give stopping another go or I'm doomed for failure, DOOMED!

I had a friend who took chantix and had the same reoccuring nightmare every night where he was trying to kill someone.

I actually credit depression with helping me quit. Granted, I had switched to vaping about a year prior and had stepped down my nicotine content slightly, but I was still smoking that stuff like a chimney at the time.

I was in the middle of an extremely low period and I ran out of stuff to smoke. My only option was to try to turk, to get some money for more. I just said fuck it and went back to bed. That whole first week or two, I felt like finding motivation to work was harder than dealing with the withdrawals. So I just never bought more.

Just keep it up - mentality's half the battle! My friend tried Chantix and he hated it. Are there any other medicines out there? I quit cold turkey and it worked really well for me, but I know it's not for everyone. One thing that did really help me was working out - you feel better and it helped to reduce cravings!

There are "patches," although I don't know what the active ingredient is; there is also Bupropion, "to support smoking cessation."

It's nicotine. Every quitting option (gum/lozenge/spray/etc) contains nicotine except for bupropion and chantix. Usually you "need" to have depression for someone to also prescribe you bupropion b/c it's an antidepressant.
