so I just told my 13 year old that I'm thinking of taking our vacation to Vegas this year. Wasn't sure how he'd respond.

He replied, "Uh, yeah. That'll be something to brag about when school starts! 'What did you do on vacation?' 'I went to Vegas, you?'"

Groupon has AMAZING deals for hotels on the strip.

We will drive there (7-8 hours) and drive back, so it's a total Road Trip to Vegas vacation!!!

Just add a lil extra for resort fees. They tack those on to you out of. Nowhere. Another reason strip hotels seem cheap. Have fun!

Really? My coworker is doing a groupon thing before me. I'll see what happens to her, lol!

I got time to book. Groupon rates seem to fall as the dates get closer.

And I need to google "vegas with kids" to make sure I find stuff to do for three days that he will enjoy. Though I am going to take him out on the Strip after dark. There is nothing like experiencing that!!

If you have never been. I have to warn you. They literally hand out porn , call escort cards on the street to people and it is everywhere. They forcefully try to put in your hands. It will be hard to avoid.

I've been. But I was an adult.

Do they do that when you have a kid with you? Hm. If so I'll prepare him to just ignore it.

They don't hand it kids. But when I saw it they don't hide it either and people just throw em on the ground. Ugh. It's a lot more kid friendly now. Be sure to take your kid to adventure dome in circus circus. Indoor theme park.

My kid has half grown up in San Francisco (he is the best MUNI rider I have ever ridden with, hands down). Which is not Vegas, but not exactly where we live now. I lived and worked in SF for half my life so it's home for me and we go back often. Whenever my kid sees interesting stuff he looks up at me and I just smile and nod and he says, "Ok. Weird. But whatever. Express yourself!"
