I have a question for internet techs please.

Many moons ago in the time before Amazon sold more than books on the Internet, I needed something and the only place in all of the world it could be purchased was a shop in the land down under. But this was ancient days you see and the shop did not have a website to accept CCs. I asked a good friend who worked for a tech company if there was a way to get my CC # to them. He said yes, sent it in two separated emails as in dividing it up. When they get the two emails they can put the # together. He said that emails as they float around the world do not normally end up in the same place twice as they travel to their destination. So if one email was captured somewhere the chances were slim the second one would be caught by the same. Does that trick still work in this new land or the Internet of Things? Thanks in advance.
