Again would like to objectively summarize the effects of most recent batch throttle!

- Batch lasted 7 minutes instead of 4
- Worker pool increased, presumably, by an amount that is either literally zero or limited to Masters who found the work during the marginal 3 minute increase of the life of the batch AND didn't give up due to throttled HIT acceptance
- Minutes of my time wasted = less HITs completed on Amazon Mechanical Turk
- Server requests required to do 25 HITs increased from 50 to nearly 400
- Anger

Am I missing something? How does this make sense?
Not limited to just your post ... but how I usually feel with posts like these :p

Boy, i'd sure whether do Mturk even if I have to work more hours to get the same pay as Walmart than have to work at Walmart. But I wouldn't give up my day job to do Mturk.

Man, it's really tricky for me to make a variable income budget. My brain doesn't seem to work like this.

rather than try to work with variable numbers i would try to set a low floor that you know you can meet, and budget based on that. my fiance's income varies but i set a baseline so anything above that is gravy

I would. I don't like working for other people. I'd do just about anything to avoid that.
I'm just not disciplined enough to work from home. I would love to work from on for my day job though. Because I know I would have to accomplish tasks.

What would you theorize the aim of throttling is? And, given that theory of its purpose... how successful do you think it is being?
That's my point. The only benefit I see them chasing is to increase the pool of workers on a batch. Most of the time the batch lasts a few minutes longer at most, and is offset by some workers still not working on the batch because of the throttling. So I do not see how it helps.

But I do know that it increases the number of server requests that I make while working on it by a factor of between 5 and 10. Which is obviously not good for them. So again, I'm left to wonder what I am missing.
