yeah that's why i started doing it. i won't post my totals because i have a big milestone coming up and you could add them together and it'd ruin it. but here are my averages

Man I wanna give up on work, crack a beer and talk film now. I studied it at college for no other reason than exactly what you explained. It's one of those movies (along with most of Kubrick's stuff) that I've seen so many times but with such large gaps in between I find something new I love or am fascinated by every time I watch. Everyone in that film is unbelievable, the script is smart and funny and creepy, it shouldn't be anywhere near as good when filming it was such a mess... I'd watch it every day if I could.

all i did was have a separate area where I have the days of the week listed, and next to each day i used the sum equation and manually entered all the cells for that day. so there's no real way i screwed it up except for selecting the wrong dates at some point lol

If you have columns with dates and totals, you can add another column with for example in C1 above: =TEXT(A1,"DDD") which puts the day of the week, then somewhere you can have a summary where you use SUMIF (seen on the right in the screenshot) or AVERAGEIF. You could have more columns with YEAR and MONTH and use SUMIFS for multiple criteria

thanks this is very helpful. so i guess my problem is that i have the dates formatted as "Sunday, March 13, 2016" instead of just the date plus "Sunday" or whatever

edit so i will have to do some reformatting and maybe have a hidden column with just the day of the week so it can pull from that cell
