How do other people say it? I live next to Worcester, Massachusetts, so I say it "Wuss-ter sheer". Because Worcester is pronounced "Wuss-ter" here. My husband used to call it "Wore-chester-shire"

Sounds like there's a reason like Kuykendahl street in Houston is pronounced Kirkendahl but it's one of those things no one talks about.

most people i know go with wor-ces-ter. i've spent enough time in boston over the years that i've learned most cities in Mass are not pronounced as they look like they should be pronounced
