Portland rent is completely out of control, too. Luckily, we just passed a law stating that landlords have to give tenants $4,000 to find a new place to live if they jack up rent beyond a reasonable amount or if they evict someone without a real reason. Landlords and renters sued, but the courts upheld it, because that's how out of control it was getting here.

Good for ya'll. In Vancouver, Idk much about it, but some people are saying they need to expand the city limit, something about zoning laws.

I really hope it doesn't get as bad there as it did here. There's just such an influx of Californians with higher incomes, it's been, to be completely blunt, extremely fucking hard on most Portland natives. But that's exactly why so many Californians are moving here - because they could no longer afford to live there. It's a vicious, horrible cycle, and I hope other cities follow Portland's lead with laws like we just passed. That's the only way to stop a horrible domino effect.

Manager doing a walk through of our apartment tomorrow. Selling the place to a new owner who probably will just jack up our rent even more. From 2010 to now, our rent went from 775 to 1095, 40% increase. Yet wages have only gone up around 4%.All these tech companies moving into Vancouver, WA turning it into San Fran. [End of rant]
