Catching up on the forum and saw there was some discussion on transcriptions that some of you guys do. Have been wanting to try some but lack confidence in my abilities for them. Can anyone recommend any good tutorials, videos or sites that can give me some pointers and help me learn more about them, or is there a forum here that covers questions about general transcriptions? I would appreciate any help.

I personally wouldnt recommend transcription hits. Theres so many hits on mturk that pay much better and give you more room for error

If the news I was watching here in CA is accurate, they were not issued an evacuation order?

And what does it matter now? Gah. People need help. Help them without criticism, even if the help is just "I'm way over here in a different part of the country praying y'all are safe!"

The mayor said dont leave. Most of this city left after hurricane rita. including me. more people died leaving cause this city is so massive. and we had plenty of warning with rita. you tell this city to leave with little to no warning. MASS casualites. People are actually doing the smart thing.

Tomorrow is my Bday and I am sitting here lost at what to do haha. I am approaching a year sober so this will be the first one I haven't been hammered for in something like 23 years Should a 43 y/o have a cake n ice cream party? My friends keep asking me to go out for it but they all want to go to bars/clubs. Even had one suggest a kegger BBQ I love being sober but it is times like this where I am "wtf do I do now"

They were and they weren't. Governor said he advised it but it wasn't ordered. Mayor of Houston said stay put. They didn't need the road congestion. The fact is people will not leave their homes until they absolutely have too. That's people, that's nature. That's the way it is. Now we don't judge. We deal. And Houston knows how to deal. If there's a flash flood that's severe the boats come out and people who are stranded are taken to churches which are used for makeshift immediate shelters. They got this down but at the moment they are overwhelmed. This isn't any minor flash flood.
