Certainly though it is a prediction of the future which can go either way. That bodes well for him - is a line I have definitely heard over the years, but I do believe it is more commonly used when things aren't looking good - That doesn't bode well for him.

lol, well some things may always Bode negative perhaps. But in truth - bode is looking into the future - whether it bodes well or doesn't bode well depends on what is foreseen.
