I think purchasing power is more important than a minimum wage. It doesn't matter what you make if you can't really buy anything with it. If your wage goes up, but the price of everything goes up too you really didn't get anywhere, lol.

The minimum wage needs to be increased yearly because of inflation. Every year your wages purchasing power becomes less and less because the cost of living is already rising at a rapid rate due to inflation. The real problem in this country is to think of this countries wealth as a coin jar. Theres 100 people in the room that need access to the money in the coin jar to survive. 1 person walks up to the coin jar and takes 75% of the wealth out of the coin jar leaving only the remaining 99 people to fight over the 25% left in the jar. This is the major problem with our economy. Corporations that are generating huge profits, hoarding wealth, refusing to pay taxes. It creates these mega corporations that are so big, they are too big to fail which discourages small businesses and effectively creates a monopoly in a lot of sectors of our economy.

I understand that but can't all of the businesses just jack up their prices without most people realizing it? If minimum wage is increased and a business owner does not increase the cost of their goods or services than they could be be at risk for suffering profit losses when they go to buy things out of state, in a state that does not have an increase in minimum wage or in their own state if other business others jacked their prices up.

I know min wage in Alabama has been 7.25 for years, at least since I was in high school (10 years ago) and even though it's cheap it still gets more expensive over time with no increase in pay.

edit: no increase in pay if you want to stick with minimum wage I mean. but idk havent had a real job in years

That image is a joke right? lol. My weekly grocery shopping bill is about $30 and I have well over 15 pounds of food.

I just posted my thoughts on the increase though. A smart business owner would increase the cost of their services and/or goods to make up for the wage increase. I think that a smarter idea would be to create a universal minimum wage that applies to all states.
