Technically our house is mostly fine, but the landlord is upset with us because we had been struggling the last few months and then we had to use this months rent to evacuate. She's trying to force me to "Self evict" with threats of throwing our stuff out etc. I've been trying to contact attorneys, FEMA, anywhere I can think of. All I've been able to do is leave messages Right now were stuck in Mississippi and even if we could get back she's doing an eviction and I can't find anyone to help stop her.

Yeah, she legally cannot do that. And to do that right after being evacuated makes her a horrible person.She could at least give you a little more time to get back and get sorted out and maybe find a new place to live without throwing out all of your stuff (if she does that, you can sue her).

See if you have a Fair Housing office that is open? They help with this kind of stuff. I know what all the agencies are called out here but unsure where you are. There are at least 3 companies here that would help people out, so I'm betting you have them in your area, too.

"Blessed on Thursday" seems like the perfect day for me to come back to work full time. We're slowly getting things sorted out from our Hurricane evacuation and with losing our home, but definitely beyond blessed to all be safe! This experience has given me a whole new appreciation for my family and for life. Now to get busy turking so we can get a new place to call home and maybe some beds.

Did they give a reason? Without having a reason, you should at least be able to call them and find out what's what.

Right now most of Fort Myers is without power and there's also barely any gas down there. There's hardly anywhere that is open. Not to mention it's still raining so there's flooding going on everywhere. We're calling, I've had a friend email a government agency, and I'm searching for answers. We were looking to move to Alabama at the end of the year so I'm not completely heartbroken about losing my home in FL, but so many keepsakes and so much of the kiddos stuff.... Long story short it's hard to get through to anyone down there right now because there's so many people who got flooded out or their house completely destroyed.
