Sweden is a socialist society and many agencies are supervised by the government. We don't have a separate medical community as you might think because we don't have private healthcare to the same extent. All healthcare is free
OBs in Sweden will tell you to avoid alcohol all together since it's impossible to know if it will effect your baby or not. Our special government liquor store have support from the medical board not to sell alcohol to pregnant women. They can't stop you from buying but you'll see ads on TV telling you to avoid alcohol at all costs, again with support from the medical board.
It's highly taboo to consume caffeine and alcohol in Sweden, despite Sweden being one of the biggest coffee drinkers in the world. I know things are different in the States but I just thought it was relevant to bring up how other cultures view the topic.
