So I showed a friend some of the basics of Turking last night, and he got a message saying they will let him know when he's approved to work. Is that a new thing or was it always like that? Been years since I signed up. Any idea how long it takes until he is approved or if they are even accepting new workers at the moment? It said something about an invitation.

When I signed up in June of 2016 I was approved in about 24 hours.

Do you guys think the surgeons using their service know that their performance is being evaluated by people who aren't medical professionals?

they probably know they're being evaluated, not sure about the medical professionals bit
