speaking of ducks

a week ago I was coming out of our local Walmart and a woman was proudly (she was super happy) walking in with two friends
holding a leash

with a duck at the end.
He (perhaps it was a girl duck?) was waddling in.

I'm guessing. Support duck??

if it's one duck, ducks do not like to be a lone and a single duck will attach itself to the closest red blooded body it can find that doesn't eat it first. Like the duck here at the sheep farm in the local park. He was dumped there and attached himself to a sheep. he's got a cozy place to sleep in winter and steady supply of food. The white duck at the local city park rules the place. He has a crew of five. No one eats until he gets to first in line. then the wilder ducks line up behind him and his crew.
