I think you're supposed to match it to whatever the router supports. Going with 'n' is probably the safest bet though, if you're not sure (unless you have a really old router.)

Yeah, 'n' is older. I think the newer ones are 'ac'. So if your router is at least a few years old, I think it might be a safer bet that it supports n rather than ac (and even if you do have a router that supports ac, it should still support n too, but you might lose some speed depending on your internet connection.)
