The best information I've gotten from MTurk developers is that it depends on the age of your account. If you have an older account, it's forever stuck in the creation state. If you have a newer account, they're able to change it for you. So some people are able to get it changed and others aren't. You know, typical MTurk inconsistencies and confusion.
