I was going to try and find out what those hits are, even though they sound painful, but her 4 am is way too early for me to get up! Hell, I might as well never sleep, lol.

I only have to pay a flat fee of $35 for my city tax. My state tax is extremely low like about 1 or 2%. Michigan tax page said something like 4 or 5% of my income if I wanted to work for myself.

Here in the Saginaw Valley we average 35 inches of snow per winter. Our heating bill in a 'normal' winter is between $150 and $200 per month. This year we've only gotten 23 inches of snow and it is 55 and sunny outside right now.

The winters are normally a grind, though. Definitely looking forward to retiring to Myrtle Beach in a decade or two.

Friend of mine started a business....set it to open in January, BUT because he filled out corporate papers in December, he had to pay the California minimum tax of $800 for the year of that December - even when he was not open - simply because of the date on the paperwork.
