I'm always confused why turking isn't considered FT employment (for those who it is their sole source of income) since it's taxable income.

All income is taxable, or supposed to be anyway.

For a lot of these surveys they're probably interested in interactions with other employees or management in a more formal setting. I think most work at home stuff wouldn't apply, not just mturk.
