So, I am back people...

Took my family down to Wilmington NC and to the beaches. A small vacation turned into a trip to scout a potential move in the future. Housing costs are about the same as where I am now, so why pay for a riverside home when I can get one 10 minutes from the beach?

are there good jobs there?
(our debate - we know where we want to live, but there are no jobs..........or at least not that many

You're not wrong, but the last big storm that came through skipped the beach almost entirely and came into the middle of the state.

No, actual river. I live in Ohio, so, right on the Ohio river. It doesn't smell pretty half the time and there is no really nice scenery either.

I live close-ish to that area, it's pretty cool. But if you go too far inland you run into some "interesting" people.

We were looking in one of those housing developments. They want criminal background checks to apply, so they have to be somewhat safe I would assume.

My family had a place in Pender county which isn't too far off of wilmington. I went thru a hurricane there once. If it happens, it happens. We will just hunker down or take a day trip to a hotel a ways away. lol

My wife is an RN, so, jobs are plentiful anywhere she goes. From what I hear from the locals, Pharmaceutical is growing big in that area. Other than that, there are a lot of factories in that area as well.

I kinda have the expertise that I can just fall into many different types of jobs, but sadly, they never pay enough.

I got my old Toshiba computer up and running yesterday. She's slow but she gets there. Should I keep it and try to get it up to speed or is it salvageable to somebody where I could sell it? It's window 7 though an ancient windows 7 and I the storage is adequate. Not sure of the memory. I have to check these things. I just got it back in working shape after I thought it died but it seems to have phoned home and fixed itself.

Def not worth selling or putting in much money to 'get it up to speed' ... maybe just use it as a second monitor at this point?
