Can I lump AMT earnings onto a schedule C I have for my main freelancing contract, or should I start a new one?
If I should start a new one, what category do you chose? My proofreading contract is filed as document prep services and I get a 1099.

Yes, they can go on the same Schedule C. Just report this portion of your income without there being an associated 1099 for it. There's posts about both aspects in the tax thread. I have multiple 1099 and non-1099 self-employment income sources which I do this with.
