We've done everything short of just moving without him man...at one point his room was in the garage..moved to a different house he has the smallest room in the house despite being the oldest.
block his internet access. if that's the only thing he cares about then that is what you take away.Yea I don't pay his shit, because I think that once again teaches him to be coddled. The curfew thing isn't so much a problem as he's antisocial for the most part it's that when he's here he's a flaming dickhead to everyone. I think I'd rather him leave and be gone for awhile to be honest with you.
Me and his mom both think his biggest issue is no one has knocked his head off for the way he talks to people so he thinks his dick attitude is perfectly acceptable, we honestly debate if he will get his ass beat in college.
His dad and grandpa live together with others they have no room for him...

I have done it..it usually leads to a coddled temper tantrum. It's just frustrating when an 18 year old acts 5.block his internet access. if that's the only thing he cares about then that is what you take away.
Let him throw a temper tantrum. Ignore it. Hard to do, but if you don't then he wins.I have done it..it usually leads to a coddled temper tantrum. It's just frustrating when an 18 year old acts 5.
Yet get this, he thinks we should buy him expensive shit for his birthday.
it sounds like your only option is to tell him to leave. It sucks and it might seem harsh but if he doesn't get his shit right he will have a crap life.I have done it..it usually leads to a coddled temper tantrum. It's just frustrating when an 18 year old acts 5.

What would you do if you said that your kid and he proceeded to either go "fine I'm leaving" which actually doesn't bother me..or proceeded to do inane stupid shit like threaten to beat up his siblings or smash your items with a hammer.Let him throw a temper tantrum. Ignore it. Hard to do, but if you don't then he wins.
I vote for taking away internet access. My kid is only (nearly) 14 and if I threaten to take away internet access his gamer ass shapes right up. But then I have not coddled him, and temper tantrums have never worked on me and he knows if he tries one he just gets more stuff taken away until he's basically sitting in his room with nothing to do.

police lmaoWhat would you do if you said that your kid and he proceeded to either go "fine I'm leaving" like threaten to beat up his siblings or smash your items with a hammer.
How serious is he about his threats of violence against other household members? What would you do if you said that your kid and he proceeded to either go "fine I'm leaving" which actually doesn't bother me..or proceeded to do inane stupid shit like threaten to beat up his siblings or smash your items with a hammer.
The kid doesn't deal in reality and honestly neither does his dad. They both have a superiority complex like they are royalty and everyone is beneath them.
I can appreciate your frustration. Sounds like these are all coping mechanisms (sounds like O.D.D. a bit) he's developed over the years of his childhood and some therapy for him, you and the whole family (even on your own without him) would be more beneficial at this stage of the game. What would you do if you said that your kid and he proceeded to either go "fine I'm leaving" which actually doesn't bother me..or proceeded to do inane stupid shit like threaten to beat up his siblings or smash your items with a hammer.

Just for the record we wanted him to go to therapy 7 years ago, he refused then and has refused since. You can't make someone get help if they refuse it, we tried.I can appreciate your frustration. Unfortunately, we're not going to solve the problem here in the Daily Work Thread
