I was never fond of the phrase "A watched pot never boils." As a kid, my parents would use this anytime something wasn't going quick enough for me. So I got a pot out one day, and put a few cups of water in it, and waited until it boiled on the stove. I watched the whole time, and sure as shit, that water boiled.
My takeaway from that, was that the saying is just a little butchered IMO. I think it would be better to say, 'A watched pot never seems to boil,' as while you're watching it, it just takes forever and seems as though it will never reach a boil! Point being, if you think about and concentrate on anything enough, your perception is likely to make it seem slower, etc.
Try to distract yourself, and let it be a pleasant surprise when the news comes!
