That has happened to me before due to the way they space out batches of surveys. Or it finally shows up on my dashboard hours after someone else posted it. If you are eligible when one is up (even if it isn't on your dashboard) you can take it (usually).

no, but sometimes they use the old product description HIT. if I had to guess there is either something internally preventing them from putting descriptions on all HITs (or just a lack of description) or they're trying to figure out which gives better results.

This was hell and I wouldn't really recommend it. But if anyone else gets the same error... mine was about halfway done when it started glitching. You CAN close out the Mturk window or refresh the iframe without losing your progress. The Requester never responded.
