Renting is kind of bullshit everywhere you go. There have been times where I have to "grease the wheels" in order to get a place. Money up front always helps, unfortunately.

I got turned down for a resident visa in MEXICO because I didn't make enough verifiable freelance income.....that's MEXICO...where tens of millions of people are trying to get out and come work for $4/hr in cash in the US picking fruit and veg.....PE $30/day type workers...like Reddit Turkers

Upsell yourself. Make sure to use words like 'self-employed independent contractor servicing multiple global partners.'

Print off your past three years earnings from Mturk. Create a spreadsheet of your weekly income for the past several weeks and take it with you. Considering that most want to see your 3 most recent paychecks this is not unreasonable.
