So when Amazon Payments was re-verifying account information a couple weeks ago they attempted to re-verify a dormant checking account that I haven't used in years. So when they did this it re-activated this incredibly shitty bank account and I never realized it - until today. That's because this bank charges a $5 inactivity fee on the 15th of the month if I don't have at least $50 in direct deposits come into this account. I had .17 in this account before Amazon dropped and withdrew 84 cents. So the fee my bank charged sent my account into a negative balance. Then the bank charged me $58 for having a negative balance...and an addition $18 per day since then for not resolving the negative balance. Mind you, it took them a week to notify me by mail.
Anyway, I was able to contact this bank and tell them that I had no control over what happened and that Amazon didn't actively seek my permission to do this so they reversed the charges.
So you all may want to check your Amazon Payments for phantom accounts in case something similar has happened to anyone else.
