This isn't really in response to anything going on at this moment, but I would just like to remind everyone that we do have a thread for non-mturk related chat.
I'm sure most of you have noticed that our daily thread post counts have been getting a little high, lately. We nearly had 3k posts yesterday, which is just kinda absurd IMO. It's making the daily threads very difficult to follow/moderate at times and I think it's probably a little off-putting to newer members that are just here trying to find stuff to work on.
None of us on the staff want to start enforcing off-topic discussion rules, but we may have to if it continues to be as excessive as it has. This is still an mturk forum and we would prefer that mturk remains the main topic in these threads, and that people can post HITs or discuss work at any point in the day without having to worry about others making jokes at their expense or giving them 's, or whatever.
So, for now, we're probably going to be reminding everyone of things like the Chat Thread, the IRC channel, Music Room, etc quite often. We would appreciate it if people would use these other places to chat if they feel that they might not be adding anything productive to the work threads. Nobody wants strict enforcement of off-topic rules, least of all the staff.
Also, if anyone has any suggestions on how we can better deal with this issue, you can post them here:
Forum Guidelines and Moderation Discussion Thread. I would love to hear them.
