I just realized how much money I'm saving by not having air conditioning...

it's not that insane. it moreso depends on your house and its energy efficiency (can it keep heat/cool inside? are you using LEDs or conventional bulbs? do you turn lights/electronics off at the outlet regularly?). it's been hot recently and my last electric bill was about $83, up from $55 last month which was more temperate. I expect to pay about $120 during the height of the summer, and our A/C unit is circa the 70s - still working great but inefficient and old. our house was built in the 50s too, so it's not like it's got an energy star rating for insulation either. during the winter, our electric bill is about $30-45 and our gas bill (for heat and cooking) has never been more than $80.
