Capital One was the worst when my sister died. I was cancelling her credit cards, and everyone was saying I'm so sorry for your loss. There's no need for you to send anything. We will check public records and write off the balance. Capital One acted like I was lying and required me to send a copy of the death certificate. When a person is dealing with a loss like that and making funeral arrangements, the last thing I wanted to do was get a copy of the death certificate and mail it to them.

They did the same thing to my dad when his mom died.

My mom used to work in collections for Bank of America. She came home crying every single day. She hated what they had to do there.

Actually, I had a basset hound named Baxter that was put down, in August, but in 2013. Still miss the big lug.

A year is way too long! My sister had three cards. I had no problem cancelling the first two. They were cancelled immediately and I received no bills from them after that. I don't remember what bank they were from, because I had no problems. The only one I remember was Capital One. I got the death certificate from the funeral director and mailed it to Capital One. I got one bill after that, which I ignored.
