well this is the worst news i've gotten in all my years as an online worker. On 6/10 I was FORCED to update Windows and started having audio issues. Turns out I had even worse RECORDING issues and I guess I'm out over 200 bucks.

HI, I registered just to weigh in on this. Long time turker....lurker here for quite some time. I had a similar problem a couple of months ago with a forced Windows update. The update that screwed me was the one that fixed the spectre bug issues. I read it would hardly affect 2016 and newer PCs, minimally affect 2015 Pcs and considerably slow down older PCs. My PC is a 2015 but it made doing hits a nightmare...they took so long to load. As someone who turks for their sole income this was unacceptable. What I ended up doing was restoring my PC to a point before the update (or if you don't have any restore points, there are ways to roll back an update, would have to google it) and then AS SOON as it came back on, before it could prompt for the forced update, I went into windows settings and set my WiFi as a metered connection. This stops updates unless they are approved by you, (I get a pop up once a week or so asking me to update, click no and done). My turking went back to normal and my PC is running super, like it did before the forced update. I guess I'm giving up PC security by not having the update, but rent and food are more of a security issue for me lol. I just wanted to throw this out there as an option.
