Frank Darabont (The Walking Dead writer) made the original film adaptation in 2007 and for whatever reason someone decided to remake it into a series. Not mad about it, looks pretty decent.

I like that of all of his works (Shawshank, The Green Mile) you chose to credit Frank Darabont as The Walking Dead writer, the show where he only was there for less then two seasons
