At the beginning the quality of many responses were complete crap. The bottom section on a question lets you see what other people have submitted. They've gotten better, either because some people no longer do those anymore, or because some people started taking it more seriously. It's like 30-40 minutes of work for $16. I don't get why people take shortcuts.

To be honest, I think this HIT is fairly difficult to do correctly. I am a political junkie and I have a back ground in finance and I have a hard time doing them. I find it is better to take a really close look to the topics they are offering because some are way easier than others. I don't know how you can come up with justifications for at least a third of the questions they have listed. I also have taken to doing them in the morning after they post since the mornings are usually slow and I don't feel the need to race through them.

"This survey will only work in Firefox. not Chrome" weren't we supposed to have moved away from this kind of fragmentation since the days of IE and Netscape?

Writing a web app that works (well) on all browsers is still a chore. I can understand why a researcher who is gathering a modest number of responses would choose to just limit the browser instead of working around various differences between browsers.

While browsers are generally somewhat consistent in rendering web pages nowadays, there are differences in scripting support, security crap and ambiguities in specifications which lead to differences. There are plenty of frameworks out there to try and paper over all those annoyances. That would be the right way to do it if it were meant for the general public.

I agree, but I think this is intended to find what amateurs think about these events. You can't make expert level analyses of those topics in the "120 minutes" suggested.

I have a simple and methodical way to make a short analysis. I usually write about 6-10 sentences, and refer to 3-6 sources. If I have low confidence, I briefly explain why the situation is unstable. If my analysis contradicts what is provided in the research section, I explain what recent changes happened. I've never gotten a warning or rejection.
