I am so confused about this email I just got.

Dear MTurk worker,

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the misentry of the timer setting. We had based the timer setting on preceding pilot studies in which participants had submitted the survey under 13 minutes. We realized that we should have been more generous with our time to allow people who may have been more diligent in their responses to not be punished for their effort. We would like to offer you compensation by direct payment through Amazon payment in $2.00 as opposed to the $1.50. Alternatively, Mechanical Turk will let us open an individual HIT with your mTurk ID in the title in order to compensate you for the regular $1.50. The HIT will include questions about the name of the survey and basic demographics to verify you are the correct respondent. We just want to warn you that this route is not perfect, as sometimes other Turkers will complete the HIT even though the title specifies your mTurk ID. Thus, it will take time for us to reject them and reopen the HIT for you. So sometimes you may look and it might not be there, but we can assure you that it will reappear. At first it seems like they are offering to bonus me $2. But then offer to set up a compensation hit...but then say "If you prefer the Amazon Electronic gift card." Like which is it?
